Hydrodissection
Overview
Thermal ablation is a procedure commonly used to heat or cool kidney and liver tumors to cytotoxic temperatures.
The Issue
There remains a significant unmet need in clinical strategies for mitigating damage to adjacent tissues and organs.
Approach
Our hydrogel improves user experience and saves time compared to the current standard of care (hydrodissection), while reducing both complications and costs associated with thermal ablation.
MTM Student Engagement
Our team interviewed stakeholders including UCSF proceduralists in various departments, helped secure additional UCSF Catalyst funding, and designed a regulatory/reimbursement strategy for bringing our gel to market.
