NextSense
Overview
NextSense is developing EEG-EarBuds that sense neural signals and produce individually tailored interventions for sleep and focus enhancement with the outcome of ADHD symptom reduction without pharmacological aid.
The Issue
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a condition that affects millions worldwide, impacting their focus, impulse control, energy regulation, and sleep. Sleep problems, in turn, exacerbate ADHD symptoms, creating a vicious cycle of restlessness, inattention, and fatigue. Current pharmaceutical approaches for treatment often lead to high healthcare costs and unwanted side effects.
Approach
NextSense is developing EEG-sensing earbuds that can be used at night to track sleep and during the day to track focus. The earbuds can be used to simultaneously analyze brain signals and stimulate neural activation of specific regions to boost sleep. During the day, algorithms to measure focus will track how the user’s sleep the night before affected their focus levels. The interventions can be personalized to the user through the use of deep learning, leading to various benefits including improved sleep, focus and overall quality of life, along with the alleviation of ADHD symptoms.
